Message new alternator, excellent condition for $7500. I'm told no oil leaks, no power steering leaks, etc. I would put a 120K kit on it and I'm sure some hoses. Basically gives me a car that I can mod, track, do things to and not worry so much about ruining the Z History. Other things I'm looking at are availability of parts vs. the '96.

Mine needs: turbos, bumpers painted, door dings removed, tranny has 4th gear grind at times, clutch, harness, and maybe some rear suspension pieces. From what I've found the transmissions are different, cams, OBDII is more prone to detonation with added boost (however my plan would be JWT ECU since I have high flow CAT pipes and a Greddy CAT Back). It's got an ever so slight misfire at idle, that I can only determine might be fuel system related since I've checked almost everything else. Also, has a boost leak in the front middle part of the engine and an exhaust leak on the driver side turbo junction.

I did my first track day a month ago and loved it, but I had a really hard time not stressing that if I broke something major or blew the motor, I would totally kill the value of the Commemorative. I would love to do more of the track events in the future.

So would you guys feel comfortable tracking your Commemorative Z?

After reading the responses this morning, I told myself I could just put the $1K I would spend to go get this one into rebuilding mine. I just don't have anyone around here that knows these cars that could help. I'm a good mechanic but I've learned with this thing, experience goes a very long way when working on it.
